Dussehra 2026: date and what to write

Dussehra, also called Vijayadashami, falls on Tuesday 20 October 2026 in most calendars. It marks the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana and, in Bengal and eastern India, the day Goddess Durga is bid farewell at the end of Durga Puja. Dates can move by a day between regions, so check your local calendar.

Most people send their wishes on the morning of Dussehra, often with a photo from the fair or the Ramlila. A card with your own names on it is a warmer way to do it than a forward that has already gone round ten groups.
