Diwali sale poster AI prompts: offer posts, banners and reels for small shops
Published

Short answerStart from a real photo of your product, ask the AI for a festive Diwali background with empty space for text, and add the offer, prices and shop name yourself. AI still gets numbers wrong, and a wrong price on a sale poster costs you money.
Diwali on Sunday 8 November 2026 is the biggest selling season of the year for many Indian shops. Most sales posts start going up in mid-October, around Navratri and Dussehra. Small shops that can't afford a designer can now make good posters with AI, as long as they avoid one big mistake: letting the AI write the prices.
Rule one: you add the text
Image models are much better at text than they were, but they still make mistakes with numbers, percentages and shop names. "Flat 40% off" can come out as "Flat 4O% of". So:
- Ask the AI for the picture only, with empty space for text.
- Add the offer, prices, dates and shop name yourself in Canva or any design app.
- Read every number twice before posting.
Use your real products
Customers want to see what you actually sell. Photograph your product on a plain table in daylight, then:
Keep this product exactly as it is: same shape, colour, packaging and label. Do not redraw any text on the packaging. Place it on a rich gold silk cloth with a few marigold flowers, two small lit brass diyas and soft bokeh fairy lights in the background. Leave the top third of the image empty and slightly darker for text. Style: professional product photography, warm festive light, sharp product. Square 1:1. No text.
"Do not redraw any text on the packaging" stops the AI changing your label, which could mislead buyers.
The banner
For a WhatsApp status, Instagram post or shop display, use the Diwali sale banner prompt. If you sell online, the ecommerce sale banner prompt gives you a wide website banner. Ask for these sizes:
- Instagram post: square 1:1 or portrait 4:5.
- Status or Story: tall 9:16.
- Website or Facebook cover: wide 16:9.
Make one design and ask for it in three sizes: "Recreate this same design as a tall 9:16 version, keeping the product and colours the same."
Ideas by type of shop
- Sweet shop: "An overhead view of a mithai box with kaju katli, laddoos and barfi on silver foil, marigold petals around it."
- Clothing: "The saree folded neatly on a wooden table with a brass diya and a jasmine string. Keep the saree colour and border exactly the same."
- Electronics: "The product on a dark table with warm fairy-light bokeh and a single diya. Clean, modern, not cluttered."
- Jewellery: "The necklace on a velvet display bust, warm light, gold reflections." The festive jewellery ad prompt turns it into a short video.
- Home services (cleaning, painting): "A bright, freshly cleaned living room decorated for Diwali."
A 5-second reel
A short video gets more reach than a still post. Take your finished poster picture (before adding text) into a video tool and ask for "slow push-in, diya flames flickering, fairy lights twinkling, product stays still and unchanged". Add the offer text in your editing app at the end.
Write the message too
The poster gets attention; the caption and message close the sale. The promo sale email prompt works just as well for a WhatsApp broadcast message. Tell it your offer, your dates and who your customers are, and ask for "short, friendly, under 60 words, one clear call to action".
Be honest with offers
Only advertise discounts you really give, and show the real price. Inflating the "original" price to make a discount look bigger breaks trust, and consumer rules in India cover misleading ads. A simple, real offer works better over the long run.
Fixing common problems
Product looks different. Start with "Keep this product exactly as it is" and name the parts: colour, shape, label.
No space for text. Ask for "the top third empty and darker".
Too busy. Ask for "only three decorations: marigolds, one diya and soft lights".
