Write a clear bug report
This prompt turns messy notes into a bug report a developer can act on. You give the product, what happened, what you expected and the environment, and it writes a title and steps to reproduce.
Turn my notes into a clear bug report. Product: [APP OR SITE] What happened: [ROUGH NOTES] Expected result: [WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN] Environment: [BROWSER / OS / VERSION] Write: title, steps to reproduce (numbered), expected vs actual result, severity, and what extra information (logs, screenshots) would help. Short, factual, no blame.
A bug that can be reproduced in three steps gets fixed first.
Get a better result
A short report with a plain title, numbered steps anyone can follow, expected and actual results side by side, a severity rating, and a list of logs or screenshots that would help the developer.
The steps skip the first click.
Fix: Write your rough notes from a clean start, such as “open the app, sign in”, so step one is not already halfway through the problem.
- The severity is inflated. Tell the AI how many people are affected and whether a workaround exists. Severity follows impact, not how annoying it felt.
- Versions and browser are vague. Paste the exact version number and operating system. “Latest Chrome” is not reproducible a month later.
Ask for a ticket title under 70 characters plus three bullet points, for teams that keep the full detail in a comment instead.
Keep the structure. Cut any sentence that is opinion, and add one line on how often the bug happens and on which devices.
