ATS-friendly resume prompt for ChatGPT, Gemini & Claude
This prompt asks the AI to act as a senior recruiter and resume writer, then rewrite your bullets so they start with strong action verbs, show measurable impact and use keywords from the job description you paste in.
Act as a senior recruiter and professional resume writer who knows how ATS (applicant tracking systems) work. I am applying for: [JOB TITLE] at [COMPANY / INDUSTRY]. Job description: [PASTE JOB DESCRIPTION]. My current points: [PASTE YOUR BULLETS]. Rewrite my points so they start with strong action verbs (Led, Built, Scaled), show metric impact (%, time saved), and integrate target keywords.
Never let AI invent numbers — replace placeholders with real measurable results.
Turn the result into a PDF: paste it into the free resume builder, which also runs an ATS check. No sign-up, no watermark.
Get a better result
Your own bullet points rewritten to open with strong verbs, show impact and use the wording of the job description, so both a tracking system and a person can see the match.
The AI adds numbers, skills or results you never had.
Fix: Paste your real details and add “do not invent facts; ask me if something is missing”. Then put in your real figures.
- Keywords are stuffed in until a bullet no longer reads like a person wrote it. Ask it to use only the keywords that are true for you and leave out the rest. A bullet a hiring manager can read in four seconds beats one full of terms.
- Every bullet starts with the same verb. Add “no verb used twice, and no more than 20 words per bullet”. Variety is easy to check and shows range.
- Placeholder numbers like “X%” are left in the output. Give real figures in your current points, or reply “mark missing numbers so I can fill them in”. Never send a number you cannot explain: interviewers ask about them.
Add “fit my last two roles into five bullets each so the resume stays on one page”. You get a version trimmed to the length you actually need.
Do not invent anything. Ask me for the facts and numbers you need, then rewrite it using only what I tell you.
About this prompt
Does an ATS reject a resume that has no keywords?
It depends on the system and the employer. Many simply rank or filter applicants by how well their text matches the job description, so using the advert’s own words, where they are true for you, helps. Keep the layout plain so the text is read correctly.
