Children's Day AI prompts: make your child the hero of a storybook, poster or colouring page

Short answerThe best Children's Day AI ideas put the child at the centre: a storybook picture where they're the hero, a colouring page made from their own photo, and a bedtime story with their name in it. Keep the child's face natural and don't post their photos publicly.

India celebrates Children's Day on 14 November, Jawaharlal Nehru's birthday, and in 2026 it falls on a Saturday. Schools hold events and parents look for something special to do with their kids. (Many other countries mark Universal Children's Day on 20 November.)

AI is at its best here when it's something you make with your child, not just a picture you post. These ideas are fun for kids from about three to twelve.

1. Your child as a storybook hero

Based on our child storybook hero prompt:

prompt — 1 blank
Turn the child in this photo into the hero of a children's picture book. Keep their face, hairstyle and skin tone recognisable, in a soft illustrated style.

Story moment: [MOMENT, e.g. riding a friendly elephant through a jungle full of fireflies].
Style: warm watercolour illustration with gentle colours, like a classic bedtime storybook.
Mood: brave, happy, magical. No text.

Let your child choose the story moment. "Flying on a giant parrot to school" or "being the captain of a cricket team of dinosaurs" is exactly what makes it theirs.

2. A colouring page of themselves

Kids love colouring themselves. The colouring page conversion prompt turns any photo into line art:

prompt — 2 blanks
Turn this photo into a simple colouring page for a [AGE]-year-old: clean black outlines on white, no shading, no grey, large areas to colour. Keep the child recognisable and add [EXTRAS, e.g. a rocket, stars and a moon] around them. A4 portrait.

Print it and colour it together. For younger children, add "very thick lines, few details".

3. A bedtime story with their name

The personalised bedtime story prompt writes a story around your child:

prompt — 4 blanks
Write a 5-minute bedtime story for [NAME], age [AGE], who loves [2 THINGS, e.g. trains and mangoes]. [NAME] is the hero and solves a small problem by being kind. Simple words, a gentle ending that makes them sleepy. No scary parts.

Make a picture for the story with prompt 1 and you have a one-page book. For a longer version, use our kids storybook prompt for each page.

4. A school or class poster

Teachers and parents organising a Children's Day event can use the kids party poster prompt:

prompt
Design a bright Children's Day poster for a school event, 4:5 portrait. Cheerful illustrated children of different backgrounds flying kites, balloons and paper planes, a sunny sky. Leave the top third empty for the title and the bottom for event details. No text.

Add the school name, date and time yourself. AI mixes up dates and names.

5. A "grown up" job picture

Ask your child what they want to be when they grow up, then make it:

prompt — 3 blanks
Show the child in this photo as a [JOB, e.g. astronaut] in a fun, colourful illustrated style: still a child, wearing a small [JOB] outfit, in a [PLACE, e.g. space station]. Keep their face recognisable. Joyful mood. No text.

Keep it illustrated rather than realistic. A realistic "adult version" of a child can look strange.

Keeping kids safe

  • Share privately. Send pictures to family on WhatsApp instead of posting them publicly.
  • Use trusted apps. Stick to well-known tools. Avoid unknown apps that ask for photo access and payment.
  • Check the result. Look through every picture before showing it to a child.
