The ChatGPT caricature trend: prompts that draw you and your job

The caricature trend keeps coming back. People upload a selfie to ChatGPT and ask it to draw a caricature of them "and my job, based on everything you know about me". It first spread in February 2026, when Forbes and TechRadar covered it. It is trending again now alongside the "roast me" and MS Paint doodle trends.

The fun part is seeing what the AI thinks your life looks like: the laptop, the coffee mugs, the gym bag, the pile of exam papers. This guide gives you the prompt and shows how to make the result look more like you.

The original prompt

Create a caricature of me and my job based on everything you know about me. Use the photo I uploaded for my face.

That's all the original prompt says. It works best in ChatGPT if you have used it for months and have Memory turned on, because the AI fills the scene from your past chats. If you are new, or you use Gemini, the AI has nothing to go on and you'll get a generic office picture.

The better prompt (works anywhere)

Give the AI the facts yourself. This version is based on our fun caricature prompt:

Create a colourful caricature of the person in this photo. Keep the face clearly recognisable: same face shape, hairstyle, glasses and skin tone. Exaggerate the head a little, keep the body small.

My job: [JOB, e.g. software tester in Bengaluru].
Things that sum up my day: [3 DETAILS, e.g. two monitors, endless chai, a whiteboard full of bugs].
A hobby: [HOBBY, e.g. weekend cricket].

Put me in a busy scene that shows these details with a friendly, funny mood. Clean hand-drawn caricature style with soft shading, plain background edges. No text.

Three details is the right number. With ten, the picture becomes cluttered and the joke gets lost.

Style variations

Swap the last style line for one of these:

• Newspaper cartoon: "black ink line art with light watercolour wash, like a newspaper cartoon".
• 3D animated movie look: "3D animated film character style with big expressive eyes", or use the 3D animated character prompt.
• Comic panel: "a single comic book panel with bold outlines and halftone dots". The comic book panel prompt adds a speech bubble you can fill in later.

Team and family versions

The trend works well for groups. A team caricature makes a good farewell or year-end gift:

Create one group caricature of the [NUMBER] people in these photos, standing together in [PLACE, e.g. our small office with plants]. Keep every face recognisable. Give each person one prop: [PERSON 1: PROP], [PERSON 2: PROP], [PERSON 3: PROP]. Friendly, funny mood, bright colours. No text.

Upload each face as a separate photo and describe them in the same order. Groups larger than five tend to lose faces, so split them into two pictures.

Fixing common problems

It doesn't look like you. Use a front-facing photo in daylight. Add "the face must stay recognisable, exaggerate only the size of the head, not the features".

The exaggeration is unkind. Say what not to exaggerate: "do not exaggerate my nose, teeth or weight". The AI follows this well.

Wrong job details. The AI guessed from old chats. Replace "everything you know about me" with the three facts yourself.

Text on signs is misspelled. Add "No text" and write any caption yourself afterwards.

A privacy note

The original prompt asks the AI to use everything it remembers about you, and people then post the result publicly. As Forbes pointed out, the picture can reveal your employer, city or health details that you would never type in a post. Look at the background before you share. The "better prompt" above avoids this, because you choose exactly what goes in.
