What you will get

An uplifting graduation clip of gowned students crossing a stage and shaking hands, families applauding, then all caps thrown into a bright sky in slow motion, with hugs on the lawn and warm sunlight.

Common mistake

Faces in the crowd look distorted.

Fix: Keep the crowd soft or seen from behind, and focus on caps and hugs. Close-ups of many faces rarely hold up.

Also watch for

Caps vanish or multiply in the air. Follow the tip: slow motion on the toss. Ask for “about twenty caps, each clearly visible, rising together and falling slowly”.
Banners or gowns carry real school names. Add “no text, crests or logos on gowns, banners or buildings”, and add your school name in the edit if needed.

Try a variation: school farewell version

Change the colour of the gowns and the setting to “a school ground with children in uniform throwing their caps”, with the same slow motion.

Still not right? Add this and run it again

Keep the same ceremony. Hold the cap toss longer in slow motion and keep faces soft and out of focus.
