Analyse a competitor's ad copy
This prompt analyses competitor ads you paste in, identifying each one's angle and approach, so you can position your own copy differently.
Analyse these competitor ads: [PASTE AD COPY OR DESCRIPTIONS] Identify each ad's audience, main promise, emotional trigger, proof used and call to action. Point out what they do well and where there is a gap I can use. Then write three original angles for my product [MY PRODUCT] that differ from theirs.
Study ads that have been running for months; long-running ads are probably working.
Get a better result
A breakdown of each competitor ad, with its audience, main promise, emotional trigger, proof and call to action, what it does well, the gaps you can use, and three original angles for your product.
Breaking every ad into the same five parts makes them easy to compare side by side, and the pattern across them shows what the market already says. The gap question is the useful turn: it looks for what nobody is saying. Asking for original angles that differ keeps the result from becoming a copy of your rival’s ad.
Your new angles copy the competitor’s wording.
Fix: Ask it to check each angle against the pasted ads and rewrite any line that echoes their phrasing.
- It praises every ad equally. Tell it how long each ad has been running, as the tip suggests, and ask it to weigh the long-running ones more.
- The gaps are vague, like “be more emotional”. Ask for each gap as a customer worry the ads ignore, and one line of copy that answers it.
Paste the text from the page each ad leads to and ask whether the page keeps the promise the ad makes.
Write two versions of each of your three angles, one short and one long, so I can test them against each other.
