A winter night bonfire where a family throws popcorn and peanuts into the flames, sparks rise and dancers in bright clothes circle to dhol drums, with warm orange light on smiling faces and misty air.
Lohri is marked by a bonfire on a winter night, with popcorn and peanuts thrown into the flames, and the prompt includes these customs. Dancers circling with dhol drums give movement. Warm orange light on faces against cold misty air sets the mood.
The fire is the only focus and the people are tiny.
Fix: Ask for “a medium shot of the family around the fire, faces lit orange, the flames at the lower edge of the frame”.
- The dhol players look wrong, with odd drums or too many hands. Keep it to one or two drummers: “one man playing a dhol hung from his neck, seen from the side”.
- Sparks land on people and look dangerous. Say “sparks rise upward and fade high above the heads, none drift onto people”.
Set it in a village courtyard: “mud-brick houses, fields in the background, women in colourful phulkari dupattas clapping the rhythm”. Name your region in the setting line.
Keep the same face and outfit as in the starting image for the whole clip.
