Summarise a research paper
This prompt summarises a paper for a student new to the field. Paste the abstract or text, and it gives the question, the method in three lines, the key findings and the study limits. Always read the paper itself for anything important.
Summarise this research paper for a student who is new to the field. Paper text or abstract: [PASTE] Give: the question they asked, method in 3 lines, key findings, limits of the study, why it matters and 5 terms I should look up. Do not overstate the conclusions. If something is not in the text, say so.
Read the abstract and conclusion yourself first. Use the AI to check your understanding.

A summary for a student new to the field: the question asked, the method in three lines, key findings, the study’s limits, why it matters, and five terms to look up.
The summary states findings more strongly than the paper does.
Fix: Check the abstract’s own wording (“suggests”, “is associated with”) and ask “use the same level of certainty as the authors”.
- Numbers or sample sizes are missing or wrong. Ask “quote the sample size and the main numbers exactly, and say where they appear”, then check them in the paper.
- The terms to look up are too basic or too advanced. Tell it your level: “first-year biology student”. The glossary then fits you.
Add “then give me a 20-minute reading plan: which sections to read first, which to skim and which to skip”. Good for long papers.
Use the same level of certainty as the authors, quote the sample size and the main numbers, and mark anything the text does not say.
