What you will get

A friendly cartoon dinosaur with a round belly, big eyes, small spikes and a tiny smile, waving at the viewer in bright flat colours on a plain background, like a children’s book character.

Why it works

Friendly character design follows simple rules: round shapes, big eyes, small details and a smile. The prompt lists each of these so the dinosaur reads as kind, not scary. Waving at the viewer gives it personality. Bright flat colour with soft shading and a plain background make it easy to reuse in a book or a sticker, and the colour blank sets the character’s main look.

Common mistake

The face looks scary.

Fix: Keep big eyes and a round body, as the tip says, and add “no sharp teeth”.

Also watch for

Details are too complex to redraw. Ask for simple shapes and four colours, so it works for a character sheet.
It looks like an existing cartoon. Ask for an original design, and check it does not copy a known character.

Try a variation: make an expression sheet

Create six small versions of the dinosaur happy, sleepy, surprised, hungry, proud and shy, in the same style.
