What you will get

A soothing slide across bright green rice fields in soft rain, ripples spreading in the water between plants, a farmer in a wide hat walking a raised path, low clouds over palm trees and the steady sound of rain.

Why it works

Rain on rice fields is a gentle, rhythmic scene, so the prompt shows the rain through ripples in the water and lets the sound do much of the work. A farmer in a wide hat walking a raised path adds a human touch and a sense of scale. Low clouds over palms set the region, and a slow horizontal slide gives calm movement without distraction.

Common mistake

The rain is invisible.

Fix: Ask for raindrops making small ripples in the water between the rice plants, and add a close-up, as the tip suggests.

Also watch for
  • The farmer walks through the field instead of along a path. Ask for a narrow raised mud path between paddies, with the farmer walking along it slowly.
  • The camera moves in different directions. Ask for one slow horizontal slide from left to right.
Try a variation: sunrise after rain

Make it just after the rain: mist lifting from the paddies, sun breaking through and egrets landing in the water.
