What you will get

A day-by-day road trip route with driving times, stops, food, places to stay, a packing and car checklist, and a backup plan for bad weather.

Common mistake

The daily drives are too long, leaving no time to enjoy the stops.

Fix: Follow the tip and cap driving at about four hours a day. Say “if a day needs more, split it”.

Also watch for

Driving times ignore traffic, hill roads or night driving. Add “allow extra time for hill roads and city traffic, and plan no driving after dark”. Verify times on a live map app before leaving.
The car checklist is generic. Name the vehicle and the season, such as “a petrol hatchback in monsoon”, so the checks fit: tyres, wipers, spare wheel.

Try a variation: fuel stops

Add “mark fuel or charging stops every 200 km, with a backup option if one is closed”. Check the stations on a live map the day before.
