What you will get

A painterly portrait of you in polished steel armour with a coloured tabard and cloak, helmet under one arm, in a misty castle courtyard at dawn with strong light on the metal.

Why it works

Holding the helmet under one arm keeps your face visible, which is the reason this classic knight pose works for a portrait. Polished steel armour, a tabard in your colour and a cloak give the costume structure, and the misty castle courtyard at dawn sets the mood. Asking for detailed metal reflections makes the armour look solid rather than painted on. Painterly realism sits between a photo and a painting, which suits a medieval scene.

Common mistake

The armour is a fantasy mix of eras.

Fix: Ask for one period, such as 15th-century plate armour, so the shapes stay consistent.

Also watch for

The coat of arms is a blur. Describe a simple design, as the tip says, like a gold stag on green, in two colours.
Your face is hidden by the cloak hood. Say “no hood, face fully visible” and keep the helmet under your arm.

Try a variation: make it a winter siege

Ask for snow falling on the courtyard, frost on the armour and torches burning in the walls.

Keep my face and armour. Make a second version of me mounted on a horse in the same light.
