Write a sincere apology message
This prompt helps you write an apology. You describe what you did, how it affected the person and what you will do differently, and it avoids excuses and non-apologies.
Help me write an apology to [PERSON]. What I did: [WHAT HAPPENED] How it affected them: [IMPACT] Our relationship: [RELATIONSHIP] What I will do differently: [ACTION] No excuses, no "sorry if you felt that way". Name what I did, acknowledge the impact, take responsibility, say how I will fix it. Give a text message version and a longer letter version.
A real apology does not ask the other person to forgive you in the same message.
Get a better result
Two versions of an apology, a short text message and a longer letter, that name what you did, acknowledge how it affected the other person, take responsibility without excuses and say what you will do differently.
A “but” sneaks in and turns into an excuse.
Fix: Ask it to remove every “but”, “just” and “I was only”. Explanations can come later if the other person asks for them.
- The impact is guessed instead of known. Write what they actually told you, such as “you said you felt embarrassed in front of your team”, rather than letting the AI imagine feelings.
- The promise to change is vague. Give one concrete action, like “I will check the shared calendar before booking”, so the apology has something they can see.
Set the relationship to a colleague or client and ask for a professional version that fixes the practical problem first and keeps the feelings part brief.
Make it sound more like me: shorter sentences, no formal phrases, and keep the part where I say what I will do differently.
