The partner slips into long, advanced sentences.

Fix: Remind it of your level after a few turns, or add “use only present tense and sentences under 12 words” for A1 and A2.

The corrections are in the target language and you cannot follow them. Ask for the conversation in the target language but the correction list in your own language.
It corrects every small accent mark and you stop talking. Ask it to correct only the two most important mistakes per reply, so the conversation keeps moving.

Try a variation: change the scenario mid-way

After five turns, ask for a twist in the scenario, such as the restaurant being out of your dish, so you have to handle something unplanned.
