Turn numbers into a story for decision makers
This prompt turns key numbers into a short narrative for an audience you name. Check that it does not overstate what the numbers show.
Turn this data into a short narrative for [AUDIENCE]: [PASTE KEY NUMBERS OR TABLE] Context: [BACKGROUND] Decision they need to make: [DECISION] Write a headline, three key insights in plain language, one chart suggestion for each, the recommended action and the caveats they should know. No jargon.
Lead with the "so what" and put the detailed numbers in an appendix.

A short narrative for decision makers: a headline, three plain-language insights each with a chart suggestion, the recommended action and the caveats they should know, without jargon.
The AI adds numbers that are not in your data, or miscalculates a percentage.
Fix: Say “use only the numbers I pasted, show any calculation you make in brackets and mark estimates as estimates”. Recheck the maths yourself.
- The insights only describe the data, such as “sales went up”. Ask that each insight says what changed, why it matters and what to do, in one sentence each.
- The chart suggestions are vague. Add “for each chart, give the chart type, the axes and a title that states the finding”. A title such as “Repeat orders doubled in Q3” tells the story.
Ask for “a 60-second spoken version of this story, about 150 words, with one pause where I show the key number”. It turns the write-up into a short meeting update.
Use only my numbers and show each calculation in brackets. Make every insight say what changed, why it matters and what to do, and name each chart type with its axes.
